Elin Hampton (she/her/they) has enjoyed an eclectic career as a writer and theatre artist. Born and raised in New York, she graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Vermont, while concurrently acting with the Champlain Shakespeare Festival. Returning to New York, she continued her studies with the renowned Stella Adler; wrote and performed numerous original works at The Duplex; and became a member of the Comedy Corps at the Manhattan Punchline Theatre. She followed this up with a two-year stint as a resident actor at Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota. Currently residing in Los Angeles, she’s been an active writer, actor, director, and producer at Ensemble Studio Theatre-LA since 2014, most recently directing The Parrot for Winterfest.  In March, her full-length play Ordinary Girls had a reading at the Holocaust Museum LA.  The Bells of West 87th(featuring Carol Locatell and James Marsters) was in the summer festival at The Road Theatre Company, before moving to The Greenway Arts Theatre in Hollywoodwhere it enjoyed a six-month run.  Her full-length musical revue Mommy! (co-written with composer Gerald Sternbach, and directed by Kay Cole) had its initial reading at the NoHo Arts Center, and a three-month run at the Hudson Guild Theatre in Los Angeles. From there, it was optioned for development, (under the title Who’s Your Mommy?) and directed by Lynne-Taylor Corbett for The York Theatre, featuring Allie Mauzy, Mary Gordon Murray, Alison Cimmet and Jared Bradshaw.  Her ten-minute play F4 was selected to be produced by the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights (ALAP) for the Hollywood Fringe Festival. It was later accepted into the City Wrights festival in Miami where it was a finalist for the National Playwright Award.  F4 went on to be included in the prestigious Samuel French’s OOB Festival.  Another short play Casey 229 was produced by The Collective NY and published by Smith & Kraus in the anthology: “The Best Ten Minute Plays of 2015.” In 2017, The Collective optioned and produced it as a short film, playing in Film Festivals and the independent film circuit throughout the country, garnering nominations for “Best Comedy.” Her short children’s play The Candidate was produced by the Open Eye Theatre and by the 2019 Red Eye’s 10 International Play Festival, where it was performed in nine countries.  One of her children’s monologues is included in “Best Contemporary Monologues for Kids Age 7-15.” (Applause Acting Series).

Television writing, producing and show running credits include: “Mad About You,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Dream On,” "Pinky and the Brain,” "Rugrats,” “The Wild Thornberries,” “The Gregory Hines Show,”  and John Leguizamo’s "House of Buggin.”
